Poetry Pleases: O, I'll sing for you, Rwanda

"I intend visiting Rwanda later this year, and I every time I think of it
tears gather in my eyes,'' says poet Masimba Biriwasha.

O, I'll sing for you, Rwanda,
In the depth of a darkness
That reeks of butterfly tears
And wasted hope, come on sweetheart
Let my lips weave lines of healing in your soul
Once and for all

O, I'll sing for you Rwanda,
For you tug at my heart.
And fill my soul with warm tears
As I reminiscence on your blood-spilled dreams
Let me craft this poem so it can shine on your face like a new dawn.
Only for you Rwanda, my love
Let me wipe your tears

O, I'll sing for you Rwanda,
A sweet song filled with a rainbow promise
For a new birth, a new moment
An outpouring of a deathless love
That will shine till God's glow

O, Rwanda, O
Listen to the ghosts whispering ancient songs in the depth of your
sinews.
Can you hear me, Rwanda?
Rise up again like bones in a dry valley.
O, shake up that dust,
And march toward your sun.

O, Rwanda, O
Don't forget me.
My blood flows in your veins
Together, we will rise up from the graves
Together, we will fly
Till our souls are wrapped in eternal light
I love you, Rwanda, with a deathless love
Can you hear me calling you?

I'll sing for you forever
Till you come together again, Rwanda
And let your light shine on the world.
While your wings are spread in the air like a summer butterfly.
O, Rwanda, its time now to consummate our love
