Our spirit comes in bottles
Of alcoholic bliss:
And sprigs of mystic mistletoe
Shall seal it with a kiss!

So here's to jolly Bacchus!
And Saturnalian mirth!
For with the pagan Romans
We'll soon be down to earth!

Our Spirit comes in carols
Of everlasting cheer:
For God is now Emmanuel,
Compassionately near:

So here's to gentle Jesus!
In Christ is all forgiven,
And with his herald angels
We'll sing our way to heaven!
