Adult life
Opera debut 1951 in Aix en Provence as Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone, later singing roles there as Mozart's Susanna & Zerlina. Glyndebourne debut 1954 as Rosina in The Barber of Seville. Sang at Covent Garden as Verdi's Oscar 1976. U.S. debut 1961 as Susanna in San Francisco. Also sang in Salzburg and Vienna She is oustanding in lighter roles, such as Despina and Norina.

She has a vivid personality, pointed phrasing & clear diction. She has produced several operas.
