Poetry Pleases: The Trilogy Of Love

...wrapped in love, I face the future day
To share with others what in love I find...

John Ayling distils into words the miracle of love.

The sunset marks the ending day:
The golden clouds build in the crimson sky,
As solitary I go upon my way
Towards the chestnut tree that reigns nearby.

The distant landscape slowly fades from sight
As evening shadows now begin to fall:
Now all the world is wrapped in solemn light:
A sense of mystery invades my soul.

Beneath my tree I now in silence stand:
A gentle breeze caresses my cool face
As though my lady laid her loving hand
Upon my brow: mysterious this place!

It seems that nature now begins to sleep
A drowsy silence falls upon the nest:
No sound is heard from cows or folded sheep,
And in that solemn stillness I am blest.

For now it is I hear my lady's voice,
That speaks in love within my secret mind,
A voice that makes my loving heart rejoice,
For she is loving too and ever kind.

And so embraced, I make my homeward way
Where love awaits me of another kind.
So, wrapped in love, I face the future day
To share with others what in love I find.
