Cliff was having problems also. He had developed a heavy cold in the Spring and this took ages to shake off. He had worked so hard, it was catching up on him a bit. The Doctor had done several tests to see why I was so sickly from morning to night. I couldn't bear the sight of some foods and in the end he took one more test and I went back home as usual. We were all surprised when a few hours later the Doctor was on the doorstep. "I've found out what is the matter" he said, as we looked at him inquiringly. "You are pregnant again".

Silence fell as we saw the Doctor go and I burst into tears, not wanting to look in Cliff's direction at ali and the strangest thing happened. He held me close to comfort me and said "It doesn't matter if we have a dozen children Glad, they will always be welcome".

Within a day or two, my sickness eased up and Cliff changed back to day work in a mill where they made the finest worsted material in Huddersfield. His pay packet was bigger also as he was the fastest at his job and deserved the best for doing it.
