U3A Writing: Say Goodmorning

Jim Moore's poem celebrates simple delights.

The air is cold,
The swag is warm,
Say goodmorning to the river.

The grass is wet,
As out I get,
Say goodmorning to the river.

Rake up the coals,
And start a fire,
Say goodmorning to the river.

Sit hunched and watch,
As flames build up,
Say goodmorning to the river.

A cup of tea,
To warm the soul,
Say goodmorning to the river.

The sun sneaks up,
At last it's dawn,
Say goodmorning to the river.
