North American Dreaming: Hydrox Girl

William Burkholder's poem is charged with the electricity of young love.

She had a mad fascination for my silver tattoo.
In a midnight rain gazing,
the water dripping from her skin,
falling to the ground from her finger tips.
i touched her metal clad lap box,
a lunch box, munch box,
hydrox, white cream in the middle.
Left my fingerprint there,
and her spine shivered.
Metal-skinned fascination,
toes tip curling,
hurling water from within,
washing my fingerprint away.
Midnight shiver spine,
fingerprint, hydrox girl
