About Our Words: Memories Of Redwick

Lynda Simspon (nee Eaton/Lawrence) from Central Tilba, Australia, found that her childhood memories of England were reawakened when she read an article by Joyce Nicholas.

Lynda wrties:

I enjoyed this article very much as I too grew up in Redwick and went to the local school until it closed in about 1955 and then had to go to Langstone which was quite a shock to the system.

I remember Mrs Parker and the shop and spending my pennies there. I have lived in Australia now for 43 years but when I visit my sister, Hilary, and her family who still live in the Caldicot/Rogiet area we usually go for a bike ride: Rogiet/Undy/Redwick/Bishton/Llandavenny/Magor/Rogiet. Takes us all day but with a call in at 'The Rose' and maybe a cup of tea with the Park's at Brick House Farm we manage to have a wonderful time.

Thank you again for letting me relive my childhood memories of Redwick.
