North American Dreaming: Dreams
William Burkholder’s poem celebrates the saving grace of dreams.
What lies in the power of words?
Spoken, written, or sung,
dreams my friends, dreams.
Poetic placement of verbs and nouns,
adjectives etc. etc. etc.
Love, laughter and yes,
dreams my friends, dreams.
Let there be no power in the word,
when abuse, its conveyance, is used to hurt and maim
The spirit, never relinquish your grip on the grace,
the beauty, of poetry, song, and lyric,
The cacophony of life and its abundant blessings
We who write, who sing, who pray for peace and epiphany..
Let us all continue to dream my friends,
Dream.
Aye, let us dream.
