Peter Wintersgill outlines the career of Guiseppe Taddei who made his opera debut in Rome.

26th. June 1916 in Genoa.

Studied in Rome.

Adult life
Opera debut Rome 1936, sang there till 1942, roles including Alberich and Verdi's Germont. Sang in Vienna 1946-48, then returned to Italy. Sang at La Scala as Pizarro, Sachs & The Dutchman, later turned to Mozart as Papageno and Figaro.

He also sang at Covent Garden in the 1960's as Macbeth,Rigoletto and Scarpia. He also sang in the U.S.A.
