North American Dreaming: I Came Seeking

William Burkholder tells of seeking a natural wisdom.

I came seeking the tree of wisdom.
To lay in respite under her branches.
I found you here and your words they speak to me,
shading me from ignorant skies and
diatribe's spear and dagger.
O, that I could rest forever
under serenity's branches,
to hear mother oak's
soft rustling voice
in the day's balmy breezes.
