Got The T-Shirt: Too Much

Steph Spiers presents an example of the Pantoum poetic form. Written in four-line stanzas, pantoums can be in free verse or rhyme. The structure of the poems, believed to have originated in the Far East, consists of repeated lines in an interlocking pattern.

Too Much

He purposely forgot the memory:
The pain was too great.
The secret was held tight in his heart;
The calamity broke against his shore.

The pain was too great,
The wind of years failed to dull.
The calamity broke against his shore.
Standing alone: tightly wrapped.

The wind of years failed to dull.
The secret was held tight in his heart.
Standing alone: tightly wrapped,
He purposely forgot the memory.
