Poetry Pleases: April Days

John Ayling gives praise for April days.

With happy heart and tuneful lay
I homeward wend this April day.
The fields are alight with brilliant green
On every bough new leaves are seen.

Wide waves of swaying daffodils
Like seas my heart with pleasure fills.
The sun is warm: the clouds ride high
Like puff balls in the azure sky.

Soft breezes bearing scent of flowers
Prepare the way for April showers
That call to life the buried seed
And flocks and herds in pastures feed.

Hark, how the birds in chorus sing
To share with all the joys of spring
As I too raise my happy days
To praise the Lord for April days.
