Poetry Pleases: So Deep My Love

John Ayling writes a love poem for his wife.

How brightly shines the sun upon your hair
Tinting its silver with a golden glow
Against the background of your grey armchair.
I had not thought that I would ever know
Anything so lovely as I see now,
Watching the sunlight, kissing your dear face
With such abandon that, I would avow,
It seemed to long your beauty to embrace
As I do too, who gaze upon you now
With such admiration. So deep my love
And joy, my dear, that you could never know
How much you mean to me no my love prove
Tho' passing time should ever life improve
And certify the truth that well we know
