North American Dreaming: I Am There

William Burkholder’s poem celebrates an inseparable bond.

In the here and now,
wherever you may be,
I am there.

If you hear a slight breeze,
I am whispering to you.

If you feel it on your cheek,
it is my touch,
Ephemeral.

If your soul starts to rise
in heartfelt pangs,
it is because mine is doing the same.

Connected, kindred, knowing.
In the here and now,
wherever you may be,
I am there.
