North American Dreaming: Beseech The Moon

William Burkholder looks for enlightenment and liberation in the sky at night.

Dragon sighs fill the air,
Calling out with blues like care,
star flung skies, and moonlit eyes,
perched and giving ear.

Rocky outcrop incarcerated,
lonely ocean saturated,
quiet silence fills the air,
save for breaths of dragon's despair.

0 natal moon my mother,
I beseech thee now your light,
to open your eye and show me,
the course of my far-flung flight.

Ephemeral sky, show me
the signs of lunar deity,
to remove me from this precipice,
to unshackle and set me free.
