North American Dreaming: Master's Pen
William Burkholder says that the words of a master poet are a gift, a joy, a blessing to the reader.
Taking the masters pen,
does not make one a good poet.
Taking the masters instruction
will set you on your way.
The master?
One who has fought, bled, and cried for his art.
who has paid the proverbial dues,
who has perspired ink and lead,
over late night parchment,
thinking only;
that what comes in words,
will be a gift, a joy, a blessing
to the reader,
a call to consciousness, enlightenment, epiphany.
Aye the master's pen,
we all own one,
let us learn how to use it.
