National Trust News: National Trust Treats For Mum

"We may have been celebrating Mother’s Day since the 1600s with chocolates and flowers being the much-favoured gifts, but this year why not give mum what she really wants – some precious time to unwind and a treat or two to really spoil her,'' suggests Sally Airey.

From Victorian high tea and seasonal cooked lunches to making plant pot gifts and floral button holes, show mum just how special she is on a day out with the National Trust.

Here’s just a few Mother’s Day treats for inspiration:

Lyme Park, Cheshire
Marvellous Mums, 2 April 1pm – 3pm

Decorate a porcelain plant pot and make a card – the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. Take a family stroll around this magnificent estate, with sweeping views of the wild moorland.

Children of all ages welcome.
