Got The T-Shirt: Too Much

Steph Spiers brings us an intriguing example of a pantoum, a poem of interlocking repeated lines based on a Malaysian folk form which was imported into European literature by the French writer Victor Hugo.

On purpose he forgot the memory:
the pain was too great.
The secret was held tight in his heart:
the calamity broke against his shore.

The pain was too great,
the wind of years failed to dull.
The calamity broke against his shore.
Standing alone: tightly wrapped.

The wind of years failed to dull.
The secret was held tight in his heart.
Standing alone: tightly wrapped,
on purpose he forgot the memory.
