Born With a Rusty Spoon: Episode 82

Artist Bertie Stroup Marah recalls a fortunate encounter.

Following my recovery, I met Bonnie Iris, an artist who, at that time, was also a writer and editor for Watercolor magazine. I was delivering paintings to the Art Center in the beautiful village of Redstone, Colorado, when Bonnie approached. She explained she wanted to do an article on my work for the magazine, Watercolor, a subsidiary of American Artist Magazine. I was thrilled and I had the pleasure of working with Bonnie, who wrote, "Spring Comes to the Rockies." The article, in which I illustrated how to paint landscapes, was published in the 1995 spring issue. In the 1999 fall issue of Watercolor, my work was included in the article, "The Figure in Context."
