A Fistful Of Stars: Folly
Hariharan Balakrishnan presents a wonderful remember-for-ever poem about lost love.
Two and twenty years late
Today
I realize my folly
To that doe-eyed dainty damsel
Who looked into my face
With light in her eyes
And a smile on her lips-
I could not simply say
Three simple words,
"I love you"
Today
When I saw her again
With the same dancing eyes
And the same earnest voice
The upturned face
Lit up with a smile
Through the window of my car
I realize what I am-
A successful failure
A voiceless versifier
Who cannot utter or mutter
Three simple words
Even today.
