A Fistful Of Stars: Patient Wait

Hariharan Balakrishnasn's poem tells of a man whose thoughts reach behond the din of the world.

The drone of a plane in the cloudy sky
The hoot of a train on its endless track
The mindless honk of a speeding car
The piercing shriek of the circling eagle

The angry bark of a mongrel dog
The pleading whine of a hungry child
The deafening laugh of the mad beggar
And music wafting through my window

Are not for the ear of the young old man
Who barefoot waits in the corner street
With quiet patience and dignity
For his uncoming bus that's yet to come

And take him beyond to Eternity
