Bonzer Words!: Wild Mushrooms
M.F. Batson's poem looks forward to a special harvest in Spring.
Early spring thaw seeps thru woodland
Enriching thick layers of autumn fall
Hidden beneath lies a succulent treasure
Greatly prized
By those in the know…….
Cold days of winter have kept in its grasp
The spores of gastronomic delight
Golden chanterelle and morel mushrooms
Their appearance each spring
Is eagerly sought
By those in the know…..
The knowledge of where these small fungi hide
Is carefully guarded by canny searchers
Keen eyes seek, as nimble fingers gather
Harvest of spring
from winters hold
By those in the know….
