A Fistful Of Stars: When I Look Back
...I look back now and this I see
Toddler daughters- now women
One to be a mother soon
The other a match to anyone...
Hariharan Balakrishnan's poem reminds us that a house is much more than a mere collection of brick, mortar and wood.
When I look back, now I see
This house I built at thirty six
Teakwood shaped to form and size
Doors and windows all in place
With not a single compromise
I look back now and this I see
Toddler daughters- now women
One to be a mother soon
The other a match to anyone
Teakwood stands and smiles alone
A house becomes a home for some
The home becomes a jail for some
A home that never was a home
A cluster of brick, mortar and wood
With none to care for a human soul
