Feather's Miscellany: Awake, O Sleeper

John Waddington-Feather brings a new hymn of praise.

Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead,
And Christ shall give you light;
For he has gone before us now,
Pale death has taken flight.

Take heart, all people, he has risen,
And rules in majesty;
Grim death has now for ever gone,
Christ rules eternally.

He’s risen as sacrifice for us,
Redeeming all our sin,
To lead our lives all cleansed of wrong,
And live new-risen with him.

“All hail, our risen Lord and King!”
Let loud our anthems ring;
Join alleluias without end
That choirs of angels sing.
