Feather's Miscellany: Fulfilment

...A doorway opening wider
Day by day in welcome...

John Waddington-Feather brings us the ultimate in optimistic poems.

Though old-age flags the flesh,
My spirit grows;
Though near-memory falters,
Far-memory still runs fresh;
Though modernity fails me,
A modicum of wisdom survives.

The world about me shrinks,
But inside the compass of my pen
A universe expands,
New worlds are recreate,
And death is just the threshold
To new life in Christ;

A doorway opening wider
Day by day in welcome;
Beyond is reaped the final harvest
Of my sowing here -
Fulfilment of my faith.
